Association of Insurance Brokers of Kenya

1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions govern membership in the Association of Insurance Brokers of Kenya (AIBK). By applying for membership, the applicant agrees to comply with these terms, the AIBK Constitution and any relevant policies or regulations.
2. Membership Eligibility
Membership is open to licensed insurance brokerage firms operating in Kenya and recognized by the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA). Applicants must be compliant with all legal and regulatory requirements.
3. Membership Category
AIBK offers a single membership category applicable to all licensed insurance brokerage firms. There are no subclassifications or individual categories.
4. Application Process
All applications must be submitted using the official AIBK membership form and must include all required documentation.
Applications are reviewed by the AIBK Secretariat and approved by the Governing Council.
A one-time Advocacy Fee is payable at the time of registration. Membership will not be confirmed until the fee is fully paid.
5. Advocacy Fee
A one-time, non-refundable advocacy fee is charged upon registration to support industry representation and lobbying efforts on behalf of members.
The amount is set by the Governing Council and may be reviewed from time to time.
6. Member Obligations
Members must:
- Abide by the AIBK Constitution, Code of Conduct and all applicable laws and regulations.
- Promote ethical and professional standards within the insurance broking industry.
- Participate in association activities, including meetings and forums, where required.
- Support AIBK's advocacy initiatives and uphold the interests of the profession.
7. Termination of Membership
Membership may be terminated:
- Upon voluntary withdrawal with written notice to AIBK.
- Automatically if the member ceases to be licensed or becomes non-compliant with regulatory requirements.
- By decision of the Governing Council in cases of misconduct, unethical behavior, or breach of these terms.
8. Use of AIBK Name and Logo
Members may use the AIBK name and logo solely for the purpose of identifying affiliation. Misuse, misrepresentation, or unauthorized use will result in appropriate action.
9. Limitation of Liability
AIBK shall not be held liable for the conduct, actions, or representations of any individual or member firm. Membership does not constitute endorsement of services.
10. Amendments
These Terms and Conditions may be amended at the discretion of the Governing Council. Members will be notified of any changes and continued membership constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
11. Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kenya.
